Drug Store
# ResponseĀ Date Why?
Aug 22, 2011 11:47 AM I think that CVS locations are normally worn out and dirty. I like the consumer experience better at Walgreens. Feels higher end. That said, where i grew up Walgreens was only accessible, therefore it may be a comfort factor as well.
Aug 21, 2011 10:35 PM Location, quality, selection.
Aug 20, 2011 11:04 AM Love Walgreens - it's the chic's c-store, right? CVS seems like a low end wanna be...
Aug 20, 2011 6:47 AM They've been good to me for years. CVS just reminds me of living in the Boston Area and my experience of the employees at CVS in Porter Square were that they were gum-smacking, apathetic jerks.
Aug 19, 2011 3:01 PM Closest wins.
Aug 19, 2011 8:55 AM Hometown business for me
Aug 18, 2011 4:35 PM Get a discount on every product through RiteAid's loyalty program. The line at CVS is always long and slow. Walgreens just opened a store near my home - didn't have the option to shop there.
Aug 18, 2011 3:17 PM location closer to me, but hours stink
Aug 18, 2011 1:46 PM Do not have them here
Aug 18, 2011 12:19 PM Same thing. Location.
Aug 18, 2011 11:04 AM Same goods, different packaging.
Aug 18, 2011 2:05 AM Convenience.
Aug 17, 2011 11:29 PM Other chains in my area.
Aug 17, 2011 9:26 PM don't care
Aug 17, 2011 9:17 PM Because they bought out the Long's stores here in California. Also, Walgreens are typically run down, not modernized, and have horrible customer service.
Aug 17, 2011 9:12 PM epitome of awful retail
Aug 17, 2011 8:33 PM They are the same
Aug 17, 2011 6:56 PM Don't like one or the other better - just depends on the location - which is closer.
Aug 17, 2011 6:19 PM grew up going there
Aug 17, 2011 6:06 PM never go to drug stores, Target has everything I need
Aug 17, 2011 4:54 PM it is the local player (CHicago)
Aug 17, 2011 3:40 PM I could be in a CVS and tell you that I'm in Walgreens. I never know the difference. I just walk in, get what I need and get out.
Aug 17, 2011 2:38 PM When W opened up I left CVS because the service was new and inviting. Now they are about the same. When I travel W has access to my records nation wide, which I like.
Aug 17, 2011 12:56 PM convenient to my house
Aug 17, 2011 11:11 AM CVS us where my perscription plan is linked to, but I like my local Walgreen's for non-perscription shopping - prices and sales seem better.
Aug 17, 2011 10:58 AM CVS tends to be the lesser of two evils in NYC - it's eiher Duane Reade or CVS
Aug 17, 2011 10:27 AM Walgreens has consistently lower prices. CVS only has better prices when a product is on special. And Walgreens was the first to have prescription on file for you to fill at any Walgreens - great when traveling and for get your prescription medicine.
Aug 17, 2011 9:59 AM location
Aug 17, 2011 9:14 AM I prefer Walgreens because the staff is always very friendly and courteous. However, my RX insurance plan limits me to CVS.
Aug 17, 2011 8:08 AM employees are friendly
Aug 16, 2011 11:22 PM I LOVE TARGET! (No need to go to Drug store when I have Target)
Aug 16, 2011 11:08 PM Closes to house, tied in with Caremark for all my meds
Aug 16, 2011 11:07 PM Don't see much difference here...
Aug 16, 2011 10:51 PM Closer to home.
Aug 16, 2011 10:27 PM Much easier to navigate than Walgreens, which is a cluttered and has high aisles.
Aug 16, 2011 9:35 PM Local business
Aug 16, 2011 8:56 PM Closest
Aug 16, 2011 8:45 PM keychain fob. used to be the drug store closest to my house. Now that I've moved... will I change?
Aug 16, 2011 8:31 PM Impeccdable service--no matter how messed up my prescriptions were
Aug 16, 2011 8:24 PM location
Aug 16, 2011 7:09 PM Cleaner and better organized than Walgreen's.
Aug 16, 2011 7:00 PM Prefer Target or Costco for drug store-type items -- better pricing, plus a much nicer environment to shop
Aug 16, 2011 5:29 PM both offer good value, but one has products the other does not
Aug 16, 2011 5:24 PM Two peas in the same pod. Neither offers anything special or memorable. Even the CVS loyalty card doesn't do the trick. Because of the infrequent visits, there's no gratification, just inconvenience.
Aug 16, 2011 5:24 PM I like Walgreen's broader selection.
Aug 16, 2011 5:22 PM Neither impresses me. Ws greens in particular has long lines and few staff members to help you.
Aug 16, 2011 5:22 PM convenience
Aug 16, 2011 5:13 PM Both nightmares
Aug 16, 2011 5:08 PM more local to me Walgreen's advertising campaign is better though
Aug 16, 2011 5:04 PM Go to Walgreens because of convenience and available parking. If I'm closer to CVS, will go there
Aug 16, 2011 5:04 PM They were the local chain where I grew up.
Aug 16, 2011 4:59 PM Loyalty of 40 years
Aug 16, 2011 4:54 PM I one-stop shot at Target
Aug 16, 2011 4:45 PM Like CVS rewards card. Like Walgrens great sales
Aug 16, 2011 4:40 PM Friendlier
Aug 16, 2011 4:37 PM CVS didn't make it in our area. Like Walgreens for the overall experience and range of products.
Aug 16, 2011 4:37 PM not valid
Aug 16, 2011 4:28 PM hard to say why
Aug 16, 2011 4:27 PM not my relme of shoping
Aug 16, 2011 4:04 PM the one round the corner
Aug 16, 2011 4:02 PM depends on coupons available, and convenience--LIKE CVS but it's just not as close to my house as Walgreens.
Aug 16, 2011 3:58 PM Seems to be more progressive.
Aug 16, 2011 3:57 PM closest to my house and the pharmacy is part of my companys benefit plan
Aug 16, 2011 3:56 PM Not in my area
Aug 16, 2011 3:55 PM Convenient, well merchandised
Aug 16, 2011 3:54 PM habit
Aug 16, 2011 3:48 PM better deals
Aug 16, 2011 3:46 PM Shorter lines
Aug 16, 2011 3:42 PM easy to shop and convenient
Aug 16, 2011 3:38 PM Same stuff, different aisle. Equidistance both have silly price reduction games, rebates, bucks, more paper!
Aug 16, 2011 3:36 PM Follow the sales
Aug 16, 2011 3:32 PM Purchase at other outlets
Aug 16, 2011 3:31 PM Various necessary items are available at each spot.
Aug 16, 2011 3:30 PM to me very similar
Aug 16, 2011 3:29 PM Convenient and top Pharmacy service
Aug 16, 2011 3:27 PM convenient to me, great loyalty program, scripts on file
Aug 16, 2011 3:24 PM Whichever Im closer to.
Aug 16, 2011 3:22 PM Location
Aug 16, 2011 3:22 PM Great customer service and clean stores.
Aug 16, 2011 3:20 PM I go to Rite Aid
Aug 16, 2011 3:20 PM Like Walgreens for no cards but they are TERRIBLE with their "mail in things" since they don't send checks back. CVS has card adn I hate havign to use a card
Aug 16, 2011 3:11 PM They're in our area, CVS is not
Aug 16, 2011 3:08 PM Nicer store environment, generally. Again, neither of these are in Canada, but I have spent quite a bit of time in both when I visit the USA.
Aug 16, 2011 3:08 PM Niether have a store in my town.
Aug 16, 2011 3:06 PM turn left, turn right, they are both there.
Aug 16, 2011 3:05 PM Location and customer service
Aug 16, 2011 3:03 PM Both have good selection of stuff beyond just drugs/HBA
Aug 16, 2011 3:03 PM convenience of locations
Aug 16, 2011 3:02 PM Grew up with Walgreens. CVS is still too new of a retailer for me.
Aug 16, 2011 2:58 PM These are utilitarian shopping venues and neither is exactly a pleasure, just a convenience.
Aug 16, 2011 2:58 PM I only choose Walgreens because of location to my house.
Aug 16, 2011 2:57 PM depends on what I am looking for. Walgreens is more convenient to home but CVS is larger so has more stock.
Aug 16, 2011 2:56 PM depends on location
Aug 16, 2011 2:55 PM Walgreen's seems too big.
Aug 16, 2011 2:54 PM Close to my house.
Aug 16, 2011 2:53 PM Whichever is closer, or whichever has the nearest 24 hour location.
Aug 16, 2011 2:52 PM I can't pinpoint why
Aug 16, 2011 2:52 PM shop at Duane Reade
Aug 16, 2011 2:51 PM cleanness
Aug 16, 2011 2:50 PM Prefer to buy my drugs the way God intended - off the street!
Aug 16, 2011 2:50 PM Lame shopping environments
Aug 16, 2011 2:49 PM No comparison
Aug 16, 2011 2:49 PM easier to find things
Aug 16, 2011 2:49 PM CVS is not located where I live so I use Walgreens.
Aug 16, 2011 2:48 PM convenience only
Aug 16, 2011 2:48 PM Accessibility, loyalty rewards
Aug 16, 2011 2:48 PM rewards
Aug 16, 2011 2:46 PM Meijer
Aug 16, 2011 2:46 PM all the same to me
Aug 16, 2011 2:45 PM Costco
Aug 16, 2011 2:45 PM Only because I don't live near CVS.
Aug 16, 2011 2:45 PM Walgreens if nearby, but more CVS stores around.
Aug 16, 2011 2:44 PM Not in area
Aug 16, 2011 2:44 PM they're both everywhere, so just go to the one that is close whenever i'm out
Aug 16, 2011 2:43 PM convenience/location
Aug 16, 2011 2:18 PM closest location to my home
Aug 16, 2011 12:59 PM Cleaner stores, prefer the aesthetics, good pharmacy.
Aug 16, 2011 12:14 PM Use only for mail-in perscription
Aug 16, 2011 10:33 AM I think these are basically the same store just different layouts. I go for whatever is closer at the time I need it.
Aug 16, 2011 8:39 AM Depends on insurance.
Aug 15, 2011 6:26 PM I'm loyal to CVS.
Aug 15, 2011 6:18 PM whatever's closest.
Aug 15, 2011 6:16 PM Location
Aug 15, 2011 5:44 PM Extra Bucks.
Aug 15, 2011 5:33 PM Extra Care card. Great savings and the stores are nicer than Walgreens.
Aug 15, 2011 5:12 PM They don't differ in price much.
Aug 15, 2011 5:02 PM have my perscriptions mainly at Walgreens due to parking avail and hours But will pop into CVS or Walgreens for same type of stuff.
Aug 15, 2011 4:38 PM No brand preference.
Aug 15, 2011 4:29 PM I've heard about a lot of problems and several lawsuits against CVS' pharmacy, so I stick with Walgreens.
Aug 15, 2011 4:22 PM Whatever is more convenient
Aug 15, 2011 3:57 PM not really loyal to either. Go in the most convenient by location.
Aug 15, 2011 3:20 PM Was the store i grew up going to
Aug 15, 2011 3:09 PM Dont discriminate when Im sick. I just go to the one that is closest.
Aug 15, 2011 3:01 PM Nicer stores, better service
Aug 15, 2011 2:52 PM CVS is closer. If Walgreens was nearby, it would be either.
Aug 15, 2011 2:28 PM use rite aid
Aug 15, 2011 2:22 PM about quick shopping and convenience. Both retailers are identical in my opinion
Aug 15, 2011 2:19 PM more convenient
Aug 15, 2011 2:12 PM Selection and prices are comparable; for me it's about convenience/location.
Aug 15, 2011 2:06 PM Interchangeable, and I only stop at a drug store in a pinch if it's on my way somewhere.
Aug 15, 2011 2:02 PM Better layout, better experience and one on every corner.
Aug 15, 2011 1:53 PM Merely convenience. Both have stores near my home
Aug 15, 2011 1:50 PM Convenience to where I live
Aug 15, 2011 1:49 PM I don't use prescriptions often so to shop for toothpaste, sun tan lotion etc I avoid Drug stores at all cost since they are so expensive. I shop at Target for those type of items.
Aug 15, 2011 1:48 PM I use them as my pharmacy exclusively and have for years after a negative incident at CVS.
Aug 15, 2011 1:48 PM I usually use the pharmacy in the grocery store or Walmart because they are more convenient and less expensive.
Aug 15, 2011 1:45 PM I like both, they're pretty much the same with me.
Aug 15, 2011 1:43 PM what ever is closer. no real loyalty. Use grocery store for scripts, grocery or target for other essentials. No need to make a separate trip to a drug store.
Aug 15, 2011 1:42 PM With their extra care rewards program I always go to CVS first
Aug 15, 2011 1:40 PM Closest to my house and haven't failed me yet
Aug 15, 2011 1:40 PM I usually see more of them
Aug 15, 2011 1:39 PM I don't have Walgreens near me as I do CVS.
Aug 15, 2011 1:37 PM They're both super close to my house.
Aug 15, 2011 1:35 PM Drive-thru prescription pick-up window and auto refill w/ text msg. notification when ready
Aug 15, 2011 1:29 PM Location plays a big role for me, but I find both stores to be pretty equal.
Aug 15, 2011 1:29 PM Growing up int he suburbs sent me to CVS on most occasions but now that I live in the city, Walgreens is the place I go.
Aug 15, 2011 1:29 PM CVS has got to be the most disoganized, uninviting store to walk into. I have given CVS so many chances and every time the entire experience is awful
Aug 15, 2011 1:28 PM Walgreens seems old with old inventory.
Aug 15, 2011 1:25 PM More convenient. Plus, like the extra bucks.
Aug 15, 2011 1:25 PM More 24-hour stores.
Aug 15, 2011 1:25 PM Good selection, customer care card, and further into technology implementation than Walgreens.
Aug 15, 2011 1:24 PM better perception as well as closer to my home
Aug 15, 2011 1:23 PM Whatever is closest
Aug 15, 2011 1:23 PM Convenience.
Aug 15, 2011 1:22 PM Location.
Aug 15, 2011 1:21 PM Better, cleaner aisles and store layout. More selection.
Aug 15, 2011 1:21 PM Both have positives and negatives. I trade off between the two.
Aug 15, 2011 1:20 PM Proximity.
Aug 15, 2011 12:50 PM Only because of convenience - they are everywhere.
Aug 15, 2011 11:08 AM too many of these stores close together
Aug 15, 2011 11:05 AM CVS has a better coupon program than Walgreens
Aug 15, 2011 10:53 AM The pharmacists are awesome.
Aug 15, 2011 8:22 AM Slightly closer and have just grown accustom to it.
Aug 15, 2011 8:21 AM Product diversity, coupon offerings, self check out, better service
Aug 13, 2011 1:05 PM Never shop either; go to Target instead
Aug 13, 2011 10:38 AM CVS isn't in my area
Aug 12, 2011 7:10 PM brand loyalty
Aug 12, 2011 4:41 PM Store layout, always clean, have all my prescriptions there.
Aug 12, 2011 4:39 PM Based on convenient locations
Aug 12, 2011 4:38 PM Closer to home
Aug 12, 2011 4:36 PM I got to Rite Aid.
Aug 12, 2011 4:35 PM It's close to my house and they are open 24 hours... that pretty much sealed it for me.
Aug 12, 2011 4:32 PM We do not have CVS in my area
Aug 12, 2011 4:30 PM Reminds me of home and CVS is gross
Aug 12, 2011 3:37 PM Better locations
Aug 12, 2011 3:30 PM tough business when the consumer wants low price first but good focus on the pharmacist. I'm waiting for one of them to at least take the names of meds Seniors get other places (like VA or thru the mail) to REALLY be a true source on medicine interactions
Aug 12, 2011 3:26 PM Location
Aug 12, 2011 3:22 PM Local mom and pop has my loyalty. they deliver and have even kept the drugstore open late waiting to fill a prescription. Have never stepped foot in the Wag's or CVS but I don't think they would do the same.
Aug 12, 2011 1:01 PM service for prescriptions better than anyone else
Aug 12, 2011 12:43 PM east versus midwest interloper!
Aug 12, 2011 12:01 PM all family Rxs are there, too much hassle to change
Aug 12, 2011 11:28 AM I go to whichever is convenient
Aug 12, 2011 10:25 AM I'm not sure either has won my loyalty recently but then they aren't the worse retail experience either.
Aug 12, 2011 10:19 AM Convenience. But actually use Duane Reade more often - recent renovations to stores make DR preferred over CVS and WG
Aug 12, 2011 10:16 AM Depends on the deal.
Aug 12, 2011 9:29 AM Close by
Aug 12, 2011 9:19 AM Indifferent service. I use Value Drugs because the pharmacist will take time to talk to me and they fill a prescription in twenty minutes.
Aug 12, 2011 9:04 AM Virtually impossible to distinguish between the two, environment, section, pricing. It's like they merged and didn't tell anyone
Aug 12, 2011 8:05 AM Convenience cleanliness, and rewards card
Aug 12, 2011 6:48 AM No Preference
Aug 12, 2011 12:03 AM Don't have either of these in Australia
Aug 11, 2011 10:23 PM both have their strong points
Aug 11, 2011 8:55 PM Extracare $$!
Aug 11, 2011 8:27 PM Local Chemist
Aug 11, 2011 7:47 PM Convience
Aug 11, 2011 6:10 PM Buy whatever is convenient
Aug 11, 2011 6:09 PM We use Rite Aid more. CVS seems a little more expensive and Walgreens entered our market relatively recently so we haven't yet shopped there.
Aug 11, 2011 6:06 PM Location is the answer
Aug 11, 2011 6:04 PM Whichever is closest.
Aug 11, 2011 5:56 PM Closer to home
Aug 11, 2011 5:52 PM Drugstores could be so much cooler to shop. I think they need brand in a brand concept areas in HBC, not dinner in a box food.
Aug 11, 2011 5:47 PM More distinctive with its red logo. I get Walgreens and Walmart confused.
Aug 11, 2011 5:31 PM regional chain is cheaper
Aug 11, 2011 5:10 PM Both are soulless and meaningless. It's just a matter of which parking lot is easier to pull into
Aug 11, 2011 4:55 PM Both are valid competitors with good brands. Rite Aid sucks.
Aug 11, 2011 4:43 PM I hate the CVS loyalty card with all the "gotchas." Both are too expensive. Target's better.
Aug 11, 2011 4:38 PM close vicinity
Aug 11, 2011 4:35 PM whoever is closest and open gets my business
Aug 11, 2011 4:35 PM CVS works with our health insurance plan.
Aug 11, 2011 4:29 PM I was loyal to Long's but my loyalty did not transfer to CVS.
Aug 11, 2011 4:28 PM like the atmosphere better in CVS, more organized, cleaner
Aug 11, 2011 4:23 PM Feel and proximity.
Aug 11, 2011 4:14 PM closest
Aug 11, 2011 4:08 PM Long term relationship
Aug 11, 2011 4:04 PM IT'S A LOT CLOSER TO MY HOUSE THEN WALGREENS. I SOMETIMES STOP IN WALGREENS WHEN I'M PASSING IT.
Aug 11, 2011 3:53 PM they have a greater range of organic products
Aug 11, 2011 3:48 PM I like the store layout and the shopping experience in general. Their stores are also convenient located where I live.
Aug 11, 2011 3:42 PM They are both easy - like Rite Aid, etc. - go to whichever is closest.
Aug 11, 2011 3:36 PM don't use drugs. ha ha...
Aug 11, 2011 3:34 PM Started career at Walgreens Corporate offices. Horrible place. Love CVS' loyalty card program.
Aug 11, 2011 3:31 PM Subscriptions
Aug 11, 2011 3:24 PM It's closest to my house.
Aug 11, 2011 3:20 PM CVS = overpriced; Walgreens = rarely shop there.
Aug 11, 2011 3:20 PM Great customer service, knowledge, etc. I will be loyal and trust them for as long as I live near a Walgreens.
Aug 11, 2011 3:19 PM CVS was here first.
Aug 11, 2011 3:16 PM It's right on the corner.
Aug 11, 2011 3:13 PM On my corner.
Aug 11, 2011 3:12 PM rite aid
Aug 11, 2011 3:12 PM Hate them all. Come to NYC sometime and see for yourself. One on every cornner
Aug 11, 2011 3:12 PM Duane Reade is my local drug store (I guess that is Walgreens since Walgreens owned)
Aug 11, 2011 3:11 PM Seems to be more of them where I tend to go
Aug 11, 2011 3:11 PM Same store... same crappy customer service.
Aug 11, 2011 3:08 PM use local bartell drug-- much better brand that either of the ones listed.
Aug 11, 2011 3:07 PM Target
Aug 11, 2011 3:04 PM Rite aid is closer
